MUSIC THERAPY IN REHABILITATION OF HEARING – POLISH CLINICAL CONTEXT

At the World Hearing Center in Kajetany, music therapy is integral to comprehensive patient care. It is used daily as a practical support in the rehabilitation process for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, including those using hearing aids and cochlear implants, as well as for patients struggling with tinnitus.

Music therapy enables patients to reacquaint themselves with the world of sound, enhances auditory attention and rhythmic sensitivity, fosters conscious listening skills, and helps regulate emotional tension, often accompanying illness and treatment.

An integral part of the comprehensive sensory rehabilitation offered at the World Hearing Center is the Skarżyński Therapy Method – SPPS-S (Stimulation of Polymodal Sensory Perception). This innovative, proprietary therapeutic approach harnesses the synergistic effects of music, rhythm, imagery, and light to stimulate multiple senses simultaneously. SPPS-S is applied in treating patients with hearing, speech, attention, and concentration disorders, and supports neuroplasticity in children and adults. Music, as a key component of this method, plays a vital role in activating integrated perceptual channels and promoting the development of cognitive functions.
